UK Legal — Stone throwers - Who is legally responsible? by Andy (67 views)
My house backs onto a small football club's clubhouse/bar. Most weekends the
hall is hired out to private parties for various celebrations and 9 times
out of ten, the children of the revellers will start to throw stones & lumps
of tarmac at our houses and driveways. So far in July, my 1-year old car now
has about 200 pounds worth of dents and chips on it.
Over the years, we have kept informing the football club of this situation,
but they don't seem to be doing anything to stop it.
My main question is - If the staff at the club on a Saturday night at a
private function know that the children of the revellers are outside causing
criminal damage, then is the club itself responsible in any way for the
costs of the damage, or would I have to catch the perpetrators myself, and
extract the damage costs from them or their drunken parents.
I am asking this as my neighbours and I now starting to get fed up with this
situation, and would like to claim our damage costs from whoever is legally
responsible for them.
Thanks in advance for any replies
Andy
