Well this is being read in UK.legal but my posts in uk.p.m have
mostly made my position clear. I recognise a certain amount of
socialism is needed for a state to function. The problem being in
deciding how much and then limiting the state's powers to exceed that.
The police are a socialist function within the state and a necessary
one. But giving them the powers they have now and taking away all
local control as well is very dangerous for freedom and the democratic
process. We have the makings of a praetorian guard mixed with Judge
Dredd. Very scary.
